Cybershape Carbon table tennis blade
Cybershape – a completely new type of blade with a unique shape and larger hitting area! Cybershape is a table tennis blade that is unlike anything you’ve ever seen before. Not only does it boast a unique and impressive shape, it also has an optimised hitting area. Our studies have shown that, for the majority of players, the optimal hitting area lies on the top half of the blade. That’s why we’ve optimised the hitting area to be 11% larger for the shakehand grip and 9% larger for the penhold grip compared to a traditional blade.
One of the special features of Cybershape is that, during returns, the hitting area is as much as 6.5 cm closer to the table compared with 2.5 cm for a round blade. Since the majority of strokes of a professional player (both backhand and forehand) are made on the top half of the racket, it is precisely here that Cybershape excels. The larger hitting area provides an improved sweet spot, thus making it easier for the player to control their short serves and returns, for example. As the hitting area on the top part has been expanded, the bottom part has been reduced by 2% in order to not make the blade too heavy and cause an imbalance.
Cybershape is a 5+2-ply blade based on CCF (Close Core Fibre) technology, which means that the carbon layer sits directly on top of the wood core. The result is more control and speed in your game. By means of the lightweight and technologically advanced, German-made carbon fibre composite, we were able to offset its weight, so although Cyberspace has a larger surface area than a regular blade, it is not heavier. Cybershape’s unique shape also makes it easier for the player to see the hitting area when serving. Thanks to its different angles, the player has six corners to choose from, depending on the type and amount of spin they want.
In collaboration with KTH Royal Institute of Technology, we also tested the vibration properties of Cybershape, i.e. how the blade responds when it meets the ball. The tests showed that Cybershape has a larger sweet spot that lies further out on the blade when compared with a regular-shaped blade. The frequency response is also more linear, which means that the vibrations are transported differently to the handle and hand. For the player, this means a completely new and unique feel during play compared with a traditional blade.
The Cybershape Carbon blade is available in two different variants. The difference between these variants is that they come: WITH or WITHOUT Custom Weight Technology (STIGA CWT).

What does this mean? At STIGA, we want you to feel completely confident in your choice of equipment. We understand that you want to test, feel and play with the blade before you decide. That's why we now offer the exclusive opportunity to test our blades for 30 days. If you like the blades, keep them! If not, return them to us and get your money back.
How does it work?
1. Choose your blades: Add up to two blades to your basket and complete your order.
2. Test play: Once you've received your blades, we recommend gluing on your favourite rubbers and testing them properly, as it takes some time at the table to get a feel for the playing characteristics of a new racket. (Please note that only STIGA glue may be used. If any other glue is used during test play, we reserve the right to refuse a return).
3. Make up your mind: If you like the blades, keep them! If not, peel off your rubbers and return the frames to us within 30 days from the date of order.
4. Easy returns: If you decide to return, make sure the blades are in acceptable condition and return them to us. Please note that an administration fee of 20 £ will be added and deducted from the refund.

If you choose to buy via STIGA's showroom/store at Götgatan 105, Södermalm Stockholm, you have the opportunity to return the racket and get your money back against a receipt.

The Close Core Fibre technology (CCF) means that the carbon layer sits directly on top of the wood core. The result is more control and speed in your game. When the artificial fibres are applied directly over the wooden core, they preserve the original characteristics of the blade while offering the sensation of an all-wood blade with less vibration. The Close Core Fibre structure provides a longer dwell time.
Backed by research with KTH, Cybershape features a larger sweet spot positioned higher on the blade – right where most players hit. This optimised design delivers more power without sacrificing control, enhancing performance where it matters most. The upper half is enlarged for impact, while the lower half is trimmed to maintain perfect balance.
Cybershape was born from a bold idea: to let data guide design. Since feel is very subjective and every player has their own preferences, it was important that its shape would not negatively affect the feel of the blade. By combining lab testing with feedback from elite players, we fine-tuned the blade for an optimised feel. Every angle is engineered to give you heightened control and confidence – turning every shot into a statement.
The Cybershape design is a game changer in offering a larger sweet spot which extends further out on the blade, closer to where most players prefer to strike and where the optimal hitting area is found both technically and objectively. This means a more powerful playing experience with optimal strokes and control.
Vibrations tell a story, and Cybershape lets you hear it loud and clear. By analysing how energy transfers to the hand, i.e. how the blade responds when it meets the ball, we created a blade that sharpens your sense of play. Expect clean feedback, improved touch, and a deeper connection between your hand and the game.
Cybershape is the result of a unique partnership with KTH (Royal Institute of Technology) and our world-class athletes. Together, we tested hundreds of shapes and materials to craft a blade that breaks barriers. It’s built for those who aim higher – with every stroke.
At STIGA Sports, we offer a range of blade grips to match your playing style. Penhold is compact and conical – perfect for fast, close-table play. Classic is flat and straight, ideal for quick grip changes and versatility. Master features a concave shape for a secure, balanced feel with reduced slip. With the right grip, you’re ready to unlock your full potential.
Behind each table tennis blade lies many decades of intensive research, development and table tennis experience. Since the end of the 60s, STIGA Table Tennis has been manufacturing its own blades in Eskilstuna, Sweden – genuine craftsmanship by and for world-class table tennis players.
The unique CYBERSHAPE® design is under pending application for design protection.
