Press release, November 2023
When the world-renowned Swedish sports & leisure brand STIGA Sports once again sets its sights on the sport of badminton, cherished by millions of active players, it is with a long relationship with the feathery ball's arenas in mind.
"Like table tennis and tennis, badminton has been part of STIGA Sports' history since the 1940s. Already in 1943, when badminton started to become popular in Sweden, we at STIGA Sports had several rackets and accessories such as nets and balls in the range. Even so-called badminton games, complete sets with rackets, balls, nets and poles conveniently packed in a bag were included in the range" says STIGA Sports Product Manager Racket Sports John Bandstigen.
IN COLLABORATION WITH SOME OF THE COUNTRY'S BEST PLAYERS
In the 1970s, Eva Twedberg played with STIGA Sports rackets. Eva was not only one of Europe's best badminton players - with a large number of championship titles to her credit - but she also actively participated in the development of the STIGA Sports badminton range. Now, as they once again complement their existing range of recreational badminton sets with top quality rackets, another elite player is the face of the products. His name is Max Svensson, a native of Täby Badminton, which is ranked 4 in Sweden and 390 in the world. Max, who for several years belonged to Badminton Sweden Elitcenter (the Swedish national team squad), decided a few years ago to play only doubles and mixed, which turned out to be a wise decision.
"Today I feel stronger than ever, the victory in the men's doubles in the Swedish Grand Prix late last autumn felt good! STIGA Sports' comeback on the badminton scene is really exciting and it is a great honour for me to be part of this venture. I think the three Aviox models are exactly the quality you would expect from a world-class sports brand."
THE THREE MODELS
Badminton Racket Aviox Progress
Entry-level model adapted to the player looking for a racket with a lot of control.
Badminton Racket Aviox Advance
All-round model that offers a mix of speed and control.
Top model adapted for the player who seeks maximum power and speed in his game.
