From tradition to innovation: the STIGA Snowracer® story

The STIGA Snowracer® has become an icon, spreading the joy and excitement of winter to generations of children around the world. But how did it all begin?

Back in the 1940s, sleds with narrow wheels were a common sight on winter roads, but as roads began to be salted and sanded, many of the traditional children's sledding hills disappeared. The sleds sank through the snow, which led to the birth of an idea. In the 1960s, when one of our employees was out tobogganing with his children, he realised it was time for something new. A toboggan that not only coped better with winter conditions, but also made skiing more fun and safer. 1972 saw the birth of the STIGA Snowracer® - a revolutionary new type of toboggan that combined a sturdy frame construction with wide skis, enabling fast and safe skiing in the snow. The joy spread quickly and since then the Snowracer® has been an integral part of winters for countless families with children.

A solid foundation for continuous improvement

From the first launch, we have never stopped developing and improving STIGA Snowracer®. Our ambition has always been to provide the best possible riding experience. In the late 70s, we widened the skis to optimise performance in loose snow and made the frame even more secure. The seat has evolved to be more durable, and we now also offer a warming pad as an accessory. The brakes have also been made more powerful to further increase safety. To ensure your Snowracer lasts for generations, we also provide spare parts, so riders young and old can continue to enjoy the winter fun year after year. These upgrades have made the Snowracer a product that not only lasts the test of time, but can be passed on from generation to generation.

New models for new adventures

As the winters have passed, we have continued to listen to our users and developed new models that enhance the adventure for different target groups. For those looking for more space and comfort, there's the Snowracer King Size GT, which has shock absorbers and room for two riders. The Curve models with carving front ski, twin tip skis and extra damping provide an even more dynamic riding experience. For the more adventurous, there's the Snowracer SX, a model with a reinforced frame and handlebars, perfect for more aggressive skiing.

Our latest innovation, the Iconic, is aimed at younger riders with its shorter design and lower weight, making it easier for smaller children to manoeuvre. And for the eco-conscious family, we've developed Iconic Bio, made from 94% bioplastic to be kinder to nature.
