Press Release, March 2025
22-year-old Amanda Girdo from Höllviken has rapidly climbed the ranks in Swedish padel. Now, she is taking the next step in her career by becoming the first female professional player to compete with STIGA Sports’ Cybershape – an innovative racket that challenges traditional norms and paves the way for the future of padel.
Joining STIGA Sports was an obvious choice for Amanda: “STIGA does things differently. They dare to challenge and think outside the box. I’ve always seen STIGA as an innovative brand – from table tennis to padel. Being part of their vision feels completely right.”
Amanda initially attended a golf academy but had put her clubs away when padel entered her life. What started as a weekend activity with her father quickly turned into a more serious pursuit. Soon, a coach from Malmö recognized her potential and opened the door to a new sport. “The more I trained, the more I realized how similar it was to golf – precision, body control, mental strength.”
Her career took off as she quickly advanced in Swedish women's competitions. From her debut tournament in Gothenburg to becoming a regular in the absolute top ranks. In 2020, she became Sweden’s number one for the first time. “That was when I realized this could be more than just a fun hobby.” Today, she is ranked top 3 in Sweden and is focused on continuing her development, both nationally and internationally.
Mattias Westerberg, Commercial Director at STIGA Sports, comments: "Amanda embodies STIGA’s core values – passion, innovation, and a relentless drive to improve. She dares to go her own way, and we are incredibly proud to have her as part of our team. Her journey has only just begun, and we look forward to following her as she reaches new heights."
Andreas Zandén, CEO of STIGA Sports, adds: "We see enormous potential in Amanda, both as a player and as an inspiration to others. Her dedication to the sport and her ambition to drive change within padel align perfectly with STIGA’s vision. Her choice of Cybershape proves that we are on the right path – that innovation and forward-thinking are the future of padel."
Amanda is currently balancing her elite career with logistics studies at the Stockholm School of Economics, a balance she highly values.
"Padel is a big part of my life, but it’s not everything. I want to grow in multiple areas, to always find ways to improve – but without feeling that padel is the only thing that defines me."
When it comes to transitioning to the Cybershape racket, she is both excited and inspired: "Being the first female professional player with Cybershape is huge. I want to show that it works just as well for women and inspire more female players to try something new. Being a role model means a lot to me."
